The Cittadella is surrounded by fortifications set up by the Knights of Malta to act as a refuge for the Gozitans from any attack.

All around the fortifications there is a foot path where there's a broad exhibit of the surrounding villages and Gozo's countryside.

In the heart of the Cittadella there are narrow streets that lead you to shops, restaurants and cafes, museums, churches and other historical treasures to discover.

Of impressive interest is the Cathedral of the Assumption and small hidden chapels, the hidden silos where they used to store grain, iron cannons and so much more to explore.
